9th Annual Crab Feast

The sky was slightly overcast but, thankfully, there was no rain, as we had postponed the event due to the threat of Hurricane Florence in September. In fact, by mid afternoon we had some sun and our 144 guests comfortably enjoyed the day. 

Scott provided his usual "taxi" service in a 6 passenger golf cart to help escort our guests to and from their vehicles.

Chesapeake Seafood Caterers provided crabs, hamburgers, hot dogs, coleslaw, potato salad, corn on the cob and vegetable crab soup. Not to be forgotten were the desserts! There was a variety of pies, from apple to pumpkin along with chocolate frosted brownies.

The annual door prize drawing was a hit this year. Two tickets to this year’s Waterfowl Festival, 4 Carvell Hall crab knives, a wine basket put together by Town & Country Liquors and a $50 gift certificate to Hunters Tavern, located in the historic Tidewater Inn.

The winners are as follows: Connie Zinter won the Waterfowl tickets and her husband Craig won the wine basket. That has never happened before! Gary Callahan won the crab knives and Mr. & Mrs. Len Morrison will be enjoying dinner at Hunters Tavern in the near future.

We were, as always, impressed and touched by the response we received by way of toys for our Marine Toys for Tots collection. We will be continuing to collect toys through November for anyone who did not attend but would like to donate a new, unwrapped toy. The collection box is located in our lobby and toys may be dropped off Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm.
